For the Facebook group: Science Fiction and Fantasy (and other genres) Authors Group Promo Group https://www.facebook.com/groups/1132459036786385/ This group helps authors promote each other's work, get promotional and marketing ideas, and more! Currently we are doing a promotion on a fellow author's book, The Fall of Saar. https://www.amazon.com/Fall-Saar-Once-Upon-Saturn-ebook/dp/B0188NLMRU This book is only .99c (GBP - .76c USD)!! Barely even a dollar. And for that tiny amount, each contribution works towards gaining reviews and purchases by the general public. It's a massive team effort that requires any help possible. I have purchased it myself and am reading it, and I have to say, it's a really good book with a fascinating story so far! So if you are an author or aspiring author, give a fellow writer a chance and buy this book! Received some awesome reviews lately! The first is for Dreamscape, and the second for Watership. And I've also created some promotional images of my 2 published books, as well as the 2 WIPs. :)

Moebius As part of a blog tour initiative by: https://www.facebook.com/groups/1132459036786385/ I have read and reviewed ’30 Days Stream of Consciousness: a Haunting (Streams of Consciousness Book 2)’ by L.E. Moebius. The premise of this book is a first-person story of a haunting from the point of view of a paranormal skeptic, so it’s a very unique take on the genre, which made it such an interesting read. The book is written, as per the title, as a ‘stream of consciousness’, where the story plays out as though you were watching it unfold yourself! It can be quite a bit different to what a reader is used to, so might take a bit to get into it, but once I did, I found it compelling and very well written. Recommended! This involves a rotation of blogs posting different things (character interviews, author interviews, reviews, etc) about an author and their chosen book.
Here are some previous posts during the week: https://diendrial.wordpress.com/ https://theprotagonistspeaks.com/2016/05/25/keridwen-of-orleigh-of-a-spell-in-the-country-by-morgan-smith/ https://robitille.wordpress.com/2016/05/24/yournextfavoriteauthor-tour-l-e-moebius/ Watch this space for my review post on L.E. Moebius on Friday! This is all part of a huge number of promotional efforts by a Facebook group of authors (and some publishers) to help promote each other! https://www.facebook.com/groups/1132459036786385/ Dance of Desolation is at 40,000 words! Only 10,000 to go! Soooo close, it's exciting. Then I'll put it away for a while as I edit The Last Immortal for publication. I also have my books up at mybookplace.net, as well as an author interview: http://mybookplace.net/jenna-whittaker/ And another cause for celebration; I have reached over 3,000 followers on Twitter! :D I've condensed the blurb of Dance of Desolation into one line, as well (necessary for more succinct descriptions on some sites):
"Shren is a man who has lived with terror, and uses his knowledge now to avoid it. However, with the advance of the magicworkers into his land from a place far across the sea, he has to face his worst fears, and realise that they are even more dire than he imagined." I've also gotten involved in a number of Facebook author promotion groups, which is exciting as it looks like they will work together to get more reviews and more publicity for everyone's books (all authors working together on this). I've plenty of followers on Twitter, but far less on FB right now. Regardless, I hope this ups my followers on FB and maybe puts me higher in Amazon ratings (and thus more sales)! :) Finalised the blurb/back cover synopsis for my 1st WIP (dystopian fantasy), The Last Immortal. At the end of the first draft, I reached a word count of 47,600. I shelved the novel to go through 6 months later and edit a couple of times myself before sending off to another editor, then finally posting on a writing forum for critique and beta readers! Only 4 more months until I do this. My 2nd WIP, Dance of Desolation, will be completed at 50,000 words as of mid-June, next month, so I have 3 months free to rest up my writing muscles and probably work on some short stories for submission into e-zines and online competitions. It’ll be a good change of pace before editing! And without further ado, here’s the new blurb: “Death was alien to them. The people of the world never knew death for as long as any could recall; yet when their world slowed on its axis, the atmosphere disintegrating, the immortals felt death for the first time. A wasting sickness ravaged their species. The old could not fight it, and the young who survived were permanently scarred by it, unable to ever bear children. Yet when it seemed that the sickness had passed, further destruction was laid upon them; the earth shattered. What was once a whole world became a mass of small shards of land held together, barely, with never-ending chasms separating them. But when an immortal girl appears, Kyrilee, who cannot catch the wasting sickness, she tells a tale of dreaming thousands of years past, of giving birth to a cat. Most dismiss her as mad, but some believe she is the one they have been searching for. The one who holds the key to curing the sickness, who can bring the people together once more. Kyrilee finds that she is no immortal, but instead a mortal body with an immortal soul, constantly reincarnating throughout the ages. When she discovers the cats, the descendants of the one she birthed in her dream, and she realises it wasn’t a dream at all. These creatures hold the key to restoring the earth. She must take this key from them before they enslave the humans.” |
