I was paused on actual word count due to the fact that I was going through, fixing up parts that were my notes and changing them to proper novel writing, then deleting my notes...so, frustratingly, while I was progressing, the word count stayed the same!
However, I finally finished with that. I'm at 41,100 words now, and will continue to add more as more scenes come to mind. Mostly I have to flesh out the subplots!
And now for the title of this post; I have written out the synopsis for The Last Immortal:
The Last Immortal is a story of a world of people who never die. Yet when that world stops spinning, the atmosphere disintegrates slowly, and the immortals begin to get their first taste of death—a painstakingly slow death of a wasting sickness, ending in infertility. The earth shatters, leading to numerous small continents held together by gravity, barely, with never-ending chasms in between.
But when an immortal girl appears, one who cannot catch the wasting sickness, one who tells a tale of dreaming of thousands of years past, dreaming of giving birth to a cat, most dismiss her as mad. But some believe she is the one they have been waiting for, the one who holds the resistance to the wasting illness, and also the one who will somehow get the earth to spin once more, to be whole, and to rebuild the atmospheric protection against the dying sun burning down upon them.
She escapes imprisonment by various factions on the world, all working to their own goals as she works towards hers—to recover her memories.
She realises she is no immortal, but instead a mortal body with an immortal soul, constantly reincarnating throughout the ages. Once she finds the cats, the descendants of the one she birthed in her dream, she realises it wasn’t a dream at all, and these creatures hold the key to restoring the earth. She needs to take this key from them before they use it to enslave the humans forever.
